I do a lot of outdoor shoots and power supply is a concern. I found a good solution – Tronix Explorer XT. I like its performance so much that I got myself 3 units that I’ve been using for a year now.

Tronix is a portable power supply. This inverter uses a 24v power source. It is proudly Philippine-made. http://www.innovatronix.com/.
From my experience, one unit can power:
1) one self-contained Hensel Pro Plus 1000 at 3/4 power for about 3 hours continuous shoot,

1 tronix for Hensel Tria and 2 for self-contained heads
2) or Hensel Tria 2400 with one 3000 head at 3/4 power for 1 1/2 hours continuous,
3) or one self-contained Hensel Pro Plus 500 at 3/4 power for 4 hours continuous.
Compared to being powered by AC, the Tria has a slower recycling time when used with Tronix. This is expected, though, because Tria’s power demand is huge. The self-contained 1000 head has slightly slower recycling time but the self-contained 500 has negligible difference.

tronix comes in handy when shooting anything outdoors
Apart from my other flash units with battery packs, I rely heavily on Tronix for locations where there are no immediate power
supplies like the beach, or venues in the middle of nowhere. Compared with a genset, which is good with continuous lights, Tronix is designed to power the bursts of studio flash. It doesn’t require an AVR. I think this is a must-have for pros.
